Pink Outfitters in My Second Box

August 20, 2012
I’m wearing a Pink Outfitters‘ Skeleton shirt,
and I used pose from  Exposeur called It’s Casual 1,
both are items from My Second Box

I’m getting around really well lately, looking around marketplace (not a really good place because of copybots, but it’s a start) and looking through my blog reader to update myself with Second Life stuff. I may have been gone for less than a year, but the virtual world has grown so much, with so much gone already (GASP! The Lost Gardens of Apollo) and so much new to see and do.

Anyway, more of my new(ish) finds in another post. What this post is really all about is the latest shopping trend called My Second Box. I have been seeing blogs that lists their items coming from MSB, and I particularly admired Harper’s post of the outfit she put together with one of the items from MSB.

My Second Box is a group in Second Life that you have to join for L$300. The concept was to choose designers and give them an opportunity to use the group to release special items. From the group profile, MSB works like an RL sample box.

Asides from the aforementioned joining fee, My Second Box group mechanics are as follows:

– Subscription is open from 1st to 25th of each month
– Gifts are sent to subscribers on the 15th
– All subscribers are EJECTED FROM group on the 26th of month ā€“
– Subscribers MUST re-subscribe and pay the $300L fee at the beginning of each month

It looks like I joined just in time to collect the items from group notices….:) From the looks of it, joining the group is a great deal for L$300.

The rest of my “look” are as follows:

Armidi Limited – (F/Skinny) A001 Jeans [Dark Industrial] 1-Armidi
Frugalista – Cuts Diagonal Bangle Red-

“LOVE-LOVE-LOVE” Earrings-Alienbear Gupte

look of the day august 13

August 13, 2012

It’s a shame that I don’t get to blog a lot about my fashion finds and the way I work them with the rest of my stuff. I guess its partly because I don’t have a very good computer and I don’t have the patience to list everything down. However, this will pretty much change as I try to get my feet wet again in Second Life and writing for it in general.

I figure what better practice to get in the habit of blogging often is to create a Look of the Day post. As I make a lot of outfits and I do take photos of them, I might as well document them by blogging about it…so here goes.

STYLE CREDITS:

makeup: R.icielli – Lipstick NEON / 01 ,

miniskirt: Second Wave Apparel (SWA) PerfectFit–Charcoal

The outfit I’m wearing is casual with some dressy elements to make it look more polished and elegant. This is how I’ve always wanted to dress; casual, yet glamorous and chic. The jacket’s refreshing Aquamarine color makes this outfit cheery and fun as well. It’s an outfit that is sure to please and will fit in anywhere.

I hope the credits I placed together would help somewhat. As I’ve mentioned, I’m not a fashion blogger where I am used to posting style credits and SLURLs, but I’m hoping to pick up the habit soon, so please bear with me. Furthermore, some of the items I am wearing may no longer be available, and I’m sure you can be creative enough to be able to substitute whenever it is needed.

Please enjoy this modest post…:) I’m open to any suggestions that you may have regarding my posts.

On Rod Humble’s ascent as CEO of Linden Lab

December 28, 2010

Marketing SL as a platform that you can do anything with reminds me of how skin moisturizers are marketed towards women…lol. Fight 7 signs of aging with one product…only that kind of marketing tactic didn’t really work with a product like SL. So they tried to leverage on the business aspects when Mark Kingdon was at the helm.

Now they are trying SL as a gaming platform. We’ve yet to see if this works, but really, with the exception of beauty products, categorizing something and putting them in a box and focusing on ONE of the features are what usually works in marketing most products. Some people get attracted to a product’s main selling point, and nothing else. Those are the kind of people the Lab are trying to grab hold into now.

What makes for us already in SL? I hope Rod Humble will not abandon the residents and take care of us and let us participate. I’m all good with their marketing spin, as long as they don’t lose sight of us that already see SL as beyond gaming and vampires and so forth.

All in all, SL is a great product, it can deliver more than advertised, BUT when handled improperly, it devolves as a bad product. We are slowly into that devolving process, when the Lab placed all their eggs in one basket, but it’s not yet too late to make miracles…:)

I believe no matter who the CEO will be, ultimately WE are the experience. If they want to go to that road, well and good, but I think they should take advantage of the residents’ passion by engaging with them more so that the residents can take care of the other SL aspects that they don’t choose to highlight for now.

Trill’s Cause

October 16, 2010

Here’s my arts article for AVENUE Magazine entitled “Trill’s Cause”. Trill is an awesome painter whom I met through the fabulous Filthy Fluno in Artopolis last year while going through his fantastic gallery. Trill Zapatero’s paintings are very beautiful and unique, but for this article I’ve encountered another side to her, which is discussed in the article.

So I hope you all get to read it and enjoy it šŸ™‚ This will be my last article for now, until I find enough time for writing and interviewing people online again. I still manage and look for content for AVENUE Magazine though, but writing needed to be set aside for a while…:(

Winter Casual outfit # 2

December 20, 2009

I was inspired by Vixie Rayna’s column in AVENUE Magazine that featured a fur jacket by AOHARU and Shai’s Crocodile skin boots in red (only 50L$ when I bought it a couple of Fifty Linden Fridays ago). These two, together with Armidi jeans, Armidi’s Schuyler top, Zaara’s bracelet, and Caliah Lyon’s Pearl earrings made a great outfit. Giving the outfit an eclectic look was this belt, a group gift from Lion skins. It had feathers and other sorts of adornments with this Native Indian feel to it.

I took these photos outside my house. I rezzed four of Botanical’s trees and lined them up in front of the house. I was going to hang a Christmas lantern, or a “parol” as it is called in my RL country, but I only have limited prims in my plot and I don’t want to be a bad tenant to my landlady who has been really nice!

Mainland living has its perks and peeves, I’ve had strangers with creepy profiles coming into my parcel looking around and being rude, but I get that too back in Costa Rica sims, only that this man I encountered in Mainland rudely entered my house and looked around. He said the door was open but I said that wasn’t an excuse to just go in.  Geez!
